Photo Studio plugin Enhances Camera and Exposure for mental ray
A cool plugin that greatly extends the capabilities of Max and mental ray for both exposure and output effects (DOF, motion blur, glare, and much more), and solves a few issues with mr Photographic Exposure Control and Gamma in Render Elements:
“Photo Studio Pro (PS Pro) is a photographic exposure control tool for computer generated images. The tool is made of various mental ray shaders that are combined in a phenomenon. This phenomenon is named Photostudio_V2.mi and runs on Maya, 3dsmax, XSI in both 32bit and 64bit. Since Max2008 there is a graphical user interface (gui) with data management. Since 3dsmax2010 Hardwareshading in the viewport is supported. The interface is designed to manage your exposure output. PSPro has some very special features like: realtime exposure or the simulation of the Av/Tv mode of a SLR camera.”

This product has an impressive feature list, and is quite inexpensive for what it accomplishes. Give it a look!
To blog, or not to blog
At first I was not going to blog on this site. Joomla and the forums should give enough flexability to post anything that would be pertinet, and those will remain the main source of communication. A blog, however, is a less formal method of posting random thoughts and musings about a subject, and separates me a bit from the formalities of book progress and helping readers, and this can be syndicated. I’ll be placing any mental ray related comments here, in addition to posting important resources in the user forums.
Enjoy!
